i use ss wire about a year for nearly all my normal coils(not TC). like watercool said only a few mods can handle ss wire for TC, but it is possible. for me it is the best and safest(for our health) wire and you can handle it so easy.

I love it too. Still have 40m kanthal as a backup, but SS and Ti are my preferred materials. While everyone can use what he likes, I only see advantages with SS vs Kanthal and Ti vs. Ni

i am absolutely in your opinion. i have Kanthal, NiChrom, Ni200 and Titanium in nearly all diameter.......but i prefer SS

Hey...I have a Uwell tank coming and a rda section that I'd like to put SS coils in. My apologies, but I am ignorant on the type and gauge of stainless I should be looking for. Tempco doesn't have it. Can any one make suggestions? Type, gauge, availibilty?

it all depends on what kind of coils you like to do, but i recommend 25ga or 26 ga. you should be fine with that for the begining. ss wire is also called V2A or V4A wire.

there is a nice range of UD SS wire (316L) here on fasttech very cheap. Just take all 3 gauges and try. SS has half the resistance of Kanthal, depending where you want to land, 26/28 cant be wrong

Thanks guys...that was very helpful. I've started spending a little more time, playing with the steam engine calculator. I never saw the SS wire on there before.

Another question, if you don't mind?

Does one make contact coils and pre-fire the SS like one does with Kanthal or are they spaced, standard, non heated coils like nickle?

I treat them like kanthal. So spaced or non-spaced and I dryburn them (not excessive though)

SS mesh has been torched to death before working with it in the past :)

Im using 0.25 SS coils in ni200 mode on VTC, they work a lot better than standard ni200 coils !
