Notice--New EU 2021 VAT Rules for Ecommerce on 1 July
Dear valued customers,

The European Union (EU) is making important changes to its value-added tax (VAT) rules, which come into effect on July 1, 2021.

What’s changing?

The VAT exemption currently in place for goods imported into the EU with a value up to €22 will be removed, meaning these shipments will now be subject to VAT.

These changes will lead to simpler procedures and reduced administration, as well as possible broader implications for how merchants conduct business in the EU.

The EU is also launching an Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) platform to simplify the declaration and the payment of VAT for B2C imports up to a value of €150.

Where can I find more information?

You can find more information on the campaign and the new rules on the European Commission’s website: www.ec.europa.eu/vat-ecommerce

Can I have the tax prepaid before shipment?

You have the option of having duties and taxes prepaid. Please contact customer service and we will guide you how to have this implemented.

What are the advantages of tax prepaid?

We will have our Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) identification number applied in your order. The logistics company provides this number to customs in the destination country, at the point of customs declaration. It will indicate to customs that VAT is being properly declared and help ensure speedy customs clearance. And you don't have to pay any handling fee for items sent using IOSS. You can know more about IOSS here.

As a result, all goods imported into the EU will be subject to VAT. The new rules will apply to all goods delivered from outside the European Union after July 1st, even if the transaction occurred online before then.

* Please note that the following details do not constitute tax, legal, or other professional advice and must not be used as such. It is the sole responsibility of all FastTech clients to comply with all legal and sales tax requirements for issuing sales tax or VAT invoices in respect to your transactions before the new rules come into effect. For more details about how we handle the tax issues, please refer to the Tax Policy Page. If you have any doubts, please contact our customer service.

Due to the uncertain handling of the customs, there are a couple of possibilities for the packages that are still in transit:

• These shipments are likely to be subject to slightly longer processing times.

• You will be liable for additional taxes relative to the value of the goods being sent.

• Packages may be returned. (We will watch closely and contact the customers once we received the return info of the packages.)

And we'll continue to communicate with logistics for any further info and updates in this thread.

Please don't hesitate to contact our customer service if you have any questions.

Best regards,

FastTech Team

Same question here. I was told it was OK to order, but I don't see any change in the prices or a new line added with VAT tax into the cart when I make an order (like Aliexpress does for instance). So?

PLease Fasttech, includes VAT at the checkout, as aliexpress does !
Why ? Because if not, and whatever if the amount declared in IOSS is correct, in France we have to pay 8€ for custom taxe added with VAT. Too expensive !

I noticed AE only include VAT between 0 to 150€. If the order is higher than 150€ there’s no VAT included it’s up to you to contact the seller to create a declaration.
Because those orders could get more taxes and fees at importation if caught by customs.

Good to see FT has at least understood what's going on now.

However, here's what you're missing:
When we receive a package, we'll be charged VAT plus an extra fee from the delivery company for collecting the VAT. If I place an order of $10, I'll be charged $2 (VAT which is fine) but also an extra 7-8$ from the delivery company. That literally doubles the price. This extra charge varies from country to country, anywhere between 6 and 20 dollars for every package.

Now, Galen, for your company's own good, it would be good to register with the EU, so that you can charge us the VAT during check-out. That'd save your EU customers the ridiculously high extra charge. Without that, there's really zero benefit of ordering products here, for any EU customer.
