ALERTHeads up: we're caught by the COVID locked down in Shenzhen
EDIT: the message below was intended as a quick heads up. Since the time of this message, an official announcement became available here.

Original post:
This is a quick heads up. A more official announcement and details on shipping arrangements will be posted shortly.

A 17-million people lock down was announced less than 24 hours ago in Shenzhen, China, where FastTech's warehouse is, in pursuit of this ludicrous dream of zero-covid.

Though our staff dormitory is practically on-site at our warehouse's location, securities were put in place to prevent shipping staff from returning to work this morning. We fought to resume work, if limited, but it was fruitless.

We're currently expecting shipping to resume after the current lock down on March 20th, 2022.

Customer service is unaffected as we are able to work at home.

We will provide an official announcement and regular updates on shipping.

Edited on 3/14/2022 at 2:59 AM. Reason: official announcement

Thank you for your kind words.

This sudden lockdown came out of nowhere, and it's causing a bit of panic here - not just at FastTech. With Omicron B.2's infection rate, IMHO the lockdown will only serve to delay the inevitable.

I work outside of the lockdown area, and I also wish the rest of the staff well during this time, both physically and mentally.

As we speak, CS staff are getting in touch with customers who have pending orders. We will provide periodic updates on service and shipping during the lockdown.
All questions and comments are welcome. We are here to help.

I've a small order whose status changed to "waiting to be packed" over the weekend (somewhat earlier than expected). Guess it'll stay that way for a week or two. Oh well, these things happen. LOL!!

Looks like my p4u mod left just in the nick of time.

Lockdowns and pandemics suck balls.

You guys should start a trucker convoy! It's the hip new thing to do, what with such affordable worldwide fuel prices and all...

It's only a week.

I have to put in an order today now I think of it. So it will take a week to ship. Not the end of the world.

China is putting certain areas in lockdown to test everyone 3 times. They will transfer the positive cases to hospitals and after that they will lift the lockdown. So i assume it will take longer than a week.
We can't agree on everything.

Well, the shutdown is only (currently) for a week, but the backlog with both the retailers and the shippers once things open up again is likely to last somewhat longer I'm afraid.

However, when one thinks back only two years ago, when shipping alone was taking more than three months, two or three weeks extra is no big deal. :-)

And who knows, today Shenzhen, tomorrow Berlin, London the day after, and New York next week. We're living in very uncertain times right now.
