The syma x5c-1 is a good starter quad. Spares are plentiful. Get extra batteries, props and motors.

I think most of them here are toys or just above. Youtube around a bit you will see thousands of dollars can be spent on a serious hobbyist version.

It is time we stop accepting the things we cannot change, and start changing the things we cannot accept...

My only worry about the X5c is the lack of a propeller cage of some sort. I'd end up using it indoors a lot and can see it being an issue for me...

My worry would be it looks like a much more expensive hobby than vaping. Watch what you get yourself into ;)

I bought the 5Xc from here and they refused to ship it except via DHL for 80$ extra. this is to Canada. Has anyone had a different experience?

I got the X5C-1 SKU 2128400, which is way better than the other versions, without issue from here. I can't remember exactly, but I believe I got the free shipping through malaysia post and it came in 17 days. I live in Toronto.

It does have prop guards but IMO it's a bit big for indoors.

SKU 2074401 or SKU 2074501 are great for indoor use i have both, and am hoping the fat white bearded guy is nice enough to bring me this SKU 1835900 for xmas to use out doors as it seems durable and reliable.

SKU 2074401 looks really good to me, especially for home indoor use and practice, thanks!

I do have access to some very large indoor spaces, so size of the copter isn't that huge of an issue.

What do you guys think about the hex-copters listed here?

It depends. What is your purpose? To take aerial footage for your channel or just having fun around?
For instance, if you are looking for a camera drone you might take a look here. There is a comparison table with best rc quadcopters that have camera installed on.
