Suggestions for an mtl RTA
Long story short, I have a friend that has been using iclear 16's for the past 5 or so years. Any suggestions for an rta that gives the same mtl experience?

Dvarw and change out the factory installed airflow for the smallest one that comes with it.
Rage on you crazy diamond.

I still use iclear 16 and 30. These are still great mtl atomizers.

Yes dvarw is 1st choice if your friend like the iclear 16. And he can try the Sine, which I believe the better version of Dvarw, or simply try those famous ones like Kayfun 2019, Berserker, EVL or doggy style...

Though I must mention that iclear 16 is a top coil atomizer, if you friend is the same as me, who into throat hit, no bottom coils RBA including the Dvarw could compare to the great throat hit from iclear 16 or 30.

So his experience is fine, but you think it can be better with an RTA?
GTFOH.

I prefer the Kayfun Prime to the Dvarw, it's also quite a bit easier to build and wick.
I don't like to yell at old ladies who have had their brains completely destroyed by the YouTube algorithm, but sometimes I feel compelled to.

I'll check those out. I was thinking Dvarw or a kayfun.

What about the doggie 2K16? You can even put the airflow pin in the 2K18 and have top fill. The flavor is unbeatable.

Perhaps a Dvarw 16, with a small battery like a Justfog P16 or an Eleaf Amnis. Coming from an iclear 30 (and probably an ego battery) a mod with a 22mm tank may be a bit of a too big change.

I too started off using iclear16 then onto I clear30 and now use Innokin Prism T22 Tank, cheap coils, easy to maintain, and give a great taste for MTL users

My suggestion to anyone who is moving from a clearomizer to an RTA but wants something simple and needs MTL with adjustable airflow "on the fly":
Kangertech Protank 4 SKU 4784900

But forget the new style "Pro" RBA that comes with it IMHO. Replace it with Kangertech Subtank Mini RBA V2 SKU 2390700 (yes, it fits and works but it's only designed for single coil but super-simple to build and wick). Besides, you can't buy those new PT4 RBAs alone so you're screwed if and when it breaks.

The reason I recommend the Protank 4 over the subtank or toptank mini (which already come with the RBA SKU 2390700) is because the Protank 4 does not have the preset airflow holes like the subtank or toptank. The PT4 is a slider type of airflow so you can get that puppy down to a pretty tight draw if you like a tight MTL vape if you want. The slider airflow adjuster ring on the PT4 is solid enough that it doesn't move very easily without deliberate force.

And what's nice about this is that it's a tank/clearomizer and an RTA. If your friend wants to just use factory coils sometimes, then he can do that. Just remove the RBA and put in a factory coil head SKU 3848002

And another positive point is that he can buy multiple SKU 2390700 and coil/wick them ahead in one sitting time if he wants then he's good for a while.

Full open Airflow

Half open airflow and you can go all the way until there's just a pinhole left if you want to.

There may be other RTAs with a slider airflow like this, not sure.

Also, I disagree for him to use those "mods" that have 3 or so fixed voltage settings. VV/VW mods are the only way to fly if you want the freedom to dictate your own vape experience. But if he uses a >1 ohm coil, his current device will likely suffice, even if it's an older style device. I still use VV/Spinner eGos with a subtank nano at 1.5 ohms at 4v...works just fine and is probably more powerful than his current setup and certainly tastes better.
